What are clients saying?

“Mark supported me through a very difficult and turbulent time, and helped secure the continuation of CSIE.  He helped me review CSIE’s business plan and offered invaluable advice on fundraising, networking, prioritising and much more.  Mark’s support has been invaluable and I have no hesitation in recommending him as a mentor!”

Dr Artemi Sakellariadis – Director, Centre for Studies on Inclusive Education

“Mark has supported The People’s Comedy CIC very much, from organizational assessments, to prioritizing what areas need the most focus first. If we were level 1 before, we have easily levelled up by 1 or 2 points on from Mark’s considered, sector-specific mentoring, coaching, and guidance.”

Henry Palmer, CEO, The People’s Comedy CIC

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do the services cost?

Each contract is discussed with the client as to whether it is best for both parties to undertake on a project or hourly/daily rate.  Some projects may take a shorter time than expected and some longer with a large amount of variability.  As a rule of thumb, the hourly rate is around £50 and daily rate about £400 (generally including reasonable expenses).  However, discussion on pricing will find a best solution for all involved.

How long can I commission services for?

The sky’s the limit! That said, mentoring services tend to be commissioned in a set of one- or two- hourly blocks, with an initial set of, perhaps, 6 and then followed on or picked up later when needed.  This can be similar with training, according to the need.  On the other hand, longer consulting exercises can be spread over weeks or months.  The services are flexible and designed to suit the client’s circumstances.

How do I pay for services?

This varies, depending on the type of work.  The object is to be fair to both parties and agreed at the beginning.  The most common way of payment for longer contracts would be an initial payment at the beginning (say 25%), then staged payments made at certain points, often relating to certain milestones being met and a final payment at the end, upon completion.  Small / short contracts may only require payment at the end.

Is the initial consultation free?

An initial call / exchange of correspondence to set out the situation and the scope and understanding of of the work is free.  This then allows a clear brief to be written for everyone to agree to prior to the paid work to begin.

If unsure if you should be asking and whether a question may be part of this, please don’t be afraid to ask, you would never be charged unexpectedly.

Is the work insured?

Yes, the work is insured.  This covers elements such as Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance.  There are some limits to the range of work that can be undertaken.  These may include areas of legal advice or financial advice, where solicitors or accountants may be more appropriate.  If unsure, please ask and such requests can be pointed in the appropriate direction.

What if circumstances change mid contract?

One objective of this work is to be as flexible as possible as things can change quickly within organisations.  This is perfectly fine.  We will have a very clear brief at the beginning of a project and if anything changes, then one party merely has to contact the other as soon as they can and we can work out whether this may change the timing and/or the costs of the support and adjust.  Adjustments are not uncommon and provided there is clarity and good communication, then misunderstandings won’t happen.
